We're delighted to announce registering your child with Merville United Youths has just become much easier! From today you can register your child using the club's website for the 2017/18 season. Visit the Registration page or simply click/tap the register button on the site's top level menu. Our registration process allows for fees to be paid in one single payment or in four monthly instalments. The instalments option will see the first of four payments paid from your account the day after you register your child online. The following three payments will be made over the subsequent three months on the same date – e.g. if you register on August 20th, the first payment from your account will occur on August 21st, the second on September 21st, third on October 21st and the final payment on November 21st. The maximum registration fee a family will pay is €220.
The fee includes a ticket valued at €10 for the FAI National Draw. These tickets are a central component of the club's fundraising revenue stream. The monies raised through these tickets go toward the astro pitch project which is currently under construction on the old tennis courts at Merville Community Centre. Please note, your child can not train or play with Merville United Youths until fully registered with the club. Registration for the Academy will take place on two evening's; Friday the 8th of September (at Merville Community Centre) and Friday the 15th of September (at Sligo Rovers astro pitch). The Academy will commence on the evening of the 15th. If you have any questions, please contact us via the club's contact page. Merville United Youths AGM takes place this Thursday evening (27th July, 2017) in Merville Community Centre. All associated with the club, including parents, are invited to attend. The meeting will be held at 7.30pm upstairs in the Centre.
The meeting will outline how the club has progressed over the past 12 months and the plans in place to develop the club further over the forthcoming 12 months and beyond. The club's Treasurer will present the clubs accounts and provide an update on the new astro pitch project. This is an opportunity for parents and stakeholders to increase their involvement with the club. Merville invites anyone who wishes to play a role in the club to come on-board and offer help in whatever manner they can, this is not limited to coaching roles. Merville United's under 14 squad (soon to be under 15) will join 7 other clubs from across the North West and Dublin for the annual Atlantic Cup hosted by Ballisodare United on Saturday 15th of July. Eight teams have been drawn in two groups with the competition to be played over the duration from the day.
The teams featuring include Palmerstown FC of Dublin, Finn Harps of Donegal, Ballina Town of Mayo, Bonagee United of Donegal, Ballinamallard United of Fermanagh, Mervue United of Glaway and Ballisodare United and Merville United, both of Sligo. The event kicks off at 11am on Saturday morning with Merville taking on Ballina Town in the first game of Group A. Merville's second group game is against Finn Harps at 12.20pm and their final group game kicks off at 1.40pm where they take on Palmerstown FC. Five Merville players travel to Limerick this week as part of the Sligo/Leitrim under 14 squad for the Kennedy Cup 2017.
Daniel Kilcullen, Kayle Wajszczuk, Kailin Barlow, Luke Moran & Sean Mc Ateer have all been selected for the squad by the Sligo/Leitrim Manager, Merville's own John Mc Ateer. Sligo/Leitrim have been drawn in group 6 of 8 groups alongside Kerry, North Tipperary and Drogheda. The competition is staged at the University of Limerick and runs form the 12th to the 16th of June. All 32 Schoolboy Leagues affiliated to the SFAI will compete in 96 games over the week. The full schedule of fixtures can be viewed here and highlights of each day's events will be streamed live Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10pm on the Schoolboys Football Association of Ireland Facebook Page. All at Merville United wish John and the Sligo/Leitrim squad the very best in Limerick over the week. Merville Untied received the Boys Merit Award at the recent Sligo Leitrim Youths annual general meeting, held on Wednesday 7th of June. The club was represented by Chairman Mark Harrigan and Secretary Conor Lynch.
The club were nominated for the award due to the success of number of age groups, notably that of Merville's under 12s, 13s and 14s who all secured their respective league title's, while the under 14s, coached by John McAteer and Ger Canning, also won the SFAI Connacht Cup. The Sligo Leitrim Youths League Committee will meet again in August where league structures and formats will be confirmed for the forthcoming season. |
